I want to create a backup policy using Storage Lifecucle Policy (SLP).
I have created SLP name test-SLP under Storage->Storage Lifecycle Policies. The questions are:
What does the "Backup" mean under the Source storage Operation?
If it's the backups which have already been done, why does it ask me to select the Destination Storage, the Retention, and so on again?
If it's the backup we are going to do, why does it NOT let me select the attributes, schedule, clients, and so on?
In short, what to back up, and what to duplicate?

Thanks Marianne, but what's and where's the initial/original backup?
How/where to create an initial backup?
For an initial backup, we need to tell attributes, schedule, clients, and so on. But the SLP does NOT have these options. Instead, it just gives storage and retention optitions, which does not make sense to me.

Thanks a lot, Marianne,
That makes sense. For some reason, I didn't see the SLP in the "Policy storage" selection while creating a policy.

Hi SLP does not control the attributes, schedule, clients, and so on. This is set at the policy level. The SLP controls the source and destination storage units and retention periods. It also allows to automate the number of copies created.
