DRIVE GOES DOWN ON SAN MEDIA SERVER

we have a netbackup 6 MP-3 environment with 4 SAN media server, we are having problem with 2 SAN media servers with DRIVE going down when we start the backup. other 2 SAN media servers are working fine with backup.

what could be the issue?

You should persuade that drive is available from OS level (check patch cord, SAN configuration etc...)

Also you should see messages in Netbackup logs, why drive was downed (not responding, time out)

if the drive goes down every time you start a backup, your config may be wrong

 

(you may have server drive 1 mapped to robot drive 3, when it should be mapped to robot drive 2)

 

try removing the server from the drives in netbackup and re-add them to make sure the mapping is ok.

 

( I am also assuming you have SSO to share the drives)

Probably mis-configured drive as previously posted

but I would check the HBA's configuration/drivers/code etc..
