Hello,
I am getting the following error when I try to install the 7.1 AIX client, I have seen another post on this but doesn't really seem to solve the issue .
Installing PBX...
ERROR: Could not locate the build_version file for: VRTSpbx. Exiting as installation is bad
Please see installation log for more details
Installation log located here: /var/tmp/installpbx-6029476-012413110959.log
Installing PBX was unsuccessful.
Aborting ...
A failure was detected running /u01/nbutemp1/NetBackup_7.1_CLIENTS/NBClients/anb/Clients/usr/openv/netbackup/client/RS6000/AIX53/cp_to_client nbuprcoe3.mst.widner.sa xxxx-uat-veb71 /tmp/install_trace.4784284
File /tmp/install_trace.4784284 contains a trace of this install.
That file can be deleted after you are sure the install was successful.
I noticed the following it say's "BROKEN" could that be the issue?
# lslpp -l VRTSpbx
Fileset Level State Description
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
VRTSpbx 1.5.0.6 BROKEN Symantec Private Branch
Exchange Fileset

I am no AIX expert, but according to NBU Installation Guide for 7.1, the uninstall command for AIX is 'installp -u'.
So, try 'installp -u VRTSpbx'.

I feel like this has come up here before...but I'm not having any luck finding any other threads.
Can you please post the contents of /var/tmp/installpbx-6029476-012413110959.log ?
Also, we need to know AIX version.

Hmm, if you were at a lower version we'd check your xlC libraries for out-of-date ones, but I don't think that's an issue with AIX 7.1.
We still need to see that installpbx log, I think. Can you provide it?
We never helped the other fellow, either... AND he's got a Symantec Employee badge now! I should email him and see if he even remembers having that problem. ;)

Well, here's a TechNote which MIGHT apply - it basically says to uninstall the "bad" PBX before trying again. I guess that makes sense.
This TN is confusing to me because it's mixing output from AIX and Solaris servers. (Also, I'm not sure why I didn't find this LAST week.)
I'm not sure what the AIX equivalent of `pkgrm` is - maybe it's also pkgrm but maybe it's rpm? - but you probably know already - or Marianne could probably tell us. You'll want to clean up that other installation and then retry the client install.

Marianne,
Thank you very much, that worked! The install completed successfully
Best Regards!
