so you know that only one folder is not getting backup...?

are you sure that the folder is healty..?

are you able to open up the properties for that folder..

we would require the bpbkar log with verbose 5, pleaes post the bpbkar log.

bpcd log won't help - it merely logs connection details.

As per Nagalla's post - we need bpbkar log on the client,
as well as:

- All text in Details tab of the job
- bpbrm log on the media server
- bptm log on the media server

Please work with your backup admin - all parties in your organization need to co-operate to troubleshoot and fix backup issues..

Please show this forum discussion to your backup admin and ask him/her to post the required logs/info.

There is not enough info in the bpbkar log. The top of the log shows that logging level is 0.
You need to increase logging level.
IMHO, level 3 should be fine.

We can see that there is more than one stream running at the same time and that there are delays between entries in the file, which could lead to a timeout on the media server.

We see 2 PIDs towards the end: 2960 and 5596.
PID 5596 completes successfully.

Second last entry for PID 2960:
21:34:28.414: [2960.5128] <4> tar_backup_tfi::backup_send_chkp_data_state: ......

Then 25 minutes later, this PID reports a socket termination on the server side:

22:00:09.191: [2960.5128] <16> tar_tfi::processException:
An Exception of type [SocketWriteException] has occured at:.......
......
OS Error: 10054 (An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

This is an indication that the media server terminated the backup when Client Read Timeout was reached.

So:

  • We need increased logging on the client to see if the backup hangs at a specific file/folder. (You can use BAR GUI on the client to increase logging level in Client Properties - Troubleshooting tab)
  • We need bptm log on the media server to see up to which point data was received.
  • We need bpbrm log to trace catalog updates from the client and possible timeout.

The above does not look like the same type of backup failure for which you posted bpbkar on the 14th.
The errors are totally different.
There were no System State backup errors in bpbkar log.
The only error in that bpbkar log was a socket error that looked like a timeout.

As per my previous post, we need all logs from the client and the media server collected after the failure.
We need to see the 'full picture'.
Not bits and pieces weeks apart.....

Logs needed:
On client: bpbkar
On media server: bptm and bpbrm
