Exchange DAG being backed up twice?

Hi,

We have a 2 node Exchange 2010 DAG consisting of MBX-1 & MBX-2.  Both servers host active and passive Databases e.g. MBX-1 has 6 active and passive Databases and MBX-2 has 6 active and passive databases.  We have implemented the Reg key: “VM_Exchange_Backup_Passive_DBs” as we would like to backup only passive database copies.  We are using NBU 7.6.1 backing up to MSDP.  We are using the vmware policy with Exchange application protection.  We are using a vmware query to target both MBX servers.

The backups are working and we can see that the Application State Capture is working correctly (see attached) however it appears that both active and passive databasese are being backed up instead of only passive.  We can verify this by the total size of the backup jobs.  We are, in effect, backing up the Exchange org twice.

Coming from HP Data Protector we used to target the DAG directly and it would automatically figure out which server hosted the active or passive DB and back it up.  Do we need to do something similar with NBU?

Regards,
