Hello,
I am designing a new NetBackup (fairly small) architecture with 2 media servers in two rooms on the same site.
I would like to keep an external copy of at least some of the backups in a fire resistant safe every few months for a complete DR restoration if necessary.
The country and environment has very high humidity so tapes will become unusable. Is it possible to use a few removable drives (as a BasicDisk) for this objective.
In searching this forums https://vox.veritas.com/t5/NetBackup/Using-External-USB-Hard-Drives-in-place-of-Tape-Library/m-p/417...
I can only find very old discussions with some rather concerning comments "2. You will not be able to restore from it"
Any help is appreciated.

I think what Mark_Solutions implies is that if the backup expires , even if the backup data are on disk, you can not use this backup image to do a restore. But you can import the data if you need.
If you want to copy the backups to USB disk I suggest the folowing

I think a better option is to use Netbackup AIR and replicate backup images to a DR site. It's automatic, and does not need manual intervention. Humans fails and forgets
Downside: It's more complex, needs bigger investment

Hello @svendickman ,
I understand that the country may have a high humidity , but what about server rooms? They should comply with some env standards including humidity, should not? As well as storage rooms for tapes (or you may use opposite server rooms for this purpose I think).
