Free VTL to test new policies ?

We have Netbackup 6.5.4 connected to tape library (with multiple drives). We would like to change some policies from some servers by adding
RMAN + other options. Since number of changes in those policies is quite big we would like to test them
on some testing (cloned) installation of NBU. But don't have any spare tape library. Do you know any (working !) free
VTL which would emulate real tape drives ? We would like to avoid testing on production system (for obvious reasons).

What about using a disk storage unit ?.

You can use disk as a storage unit - you just need a disk drive with plenty of free space. The device wizard can help you creating a basic disk storage unit.

PRZEMOL i've looked for the same thing but to no avail.

Nicolai,

I think PRZEMOL wants to simulate the data going through tape devices (simulate throughput) and not directly to disk, given that the production system does not go directly to disk you would want to test in a like/like environment.

If anyone knows of any free tape drive emulators that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Renton
