Has anyone had issues with installing NOM MP4

Alasdair_McQuir

I am trying to install it and it keep rolling back.

I have client 6 Mp4 installed and running correctly.

It always does the rollback after the section where it says updating databses.

The only information is in eventvwr

"The netbackup operations manager server service terminated unexpectedly."

Has anyone else seeen this?

I have not had any problems. Did you go through the setup procedure in the manual? You also have to install pbx and authentication if I am not mistaken.

There are some weird dependencies when it comes to NOM (like Solaris 10 is not supported, Solaris 9 is supported but not 64 bit etc) -

Check the compatibility and other dependencies before start -

Solaris 64 bit is supported. that is all we run. I do not think you can solaris in 32 bit, ok maybe x86 solaris.

Something just does not seem right. Who runs 32 bit solaris on sparc hardware? Solaris has been 64 bit since what 1999? I will try and look into this when I have more time. I have called support for many Netbackup issues they always ask 64 bit or 32 bit. I always say 64 bit of course.

NetBackup is supported on 64 bit Solaris. It's NOM which is not supported on 64 bit and is not supported for NetBackup running on 64 bit.

My NOM server is a solaris 64 bit server. My master is a 64 bit Solaris box. Perhaps this is why I do experience some bugs.

try uninstalling the client software and then install NOM.
If NOM installs OK then re-install NetBackup client.

If you download both and untar them into the same directory then when you do the pkgadd I believe when you intall the client it will automatically install the NOM server. I know that is how it works with Netbackup.

I am having the exact same issue with 2003, i have yet to find a work around.

This issues is having the master server and NOM installed on the same box

Simply run \netbackup\bin\bpdown in a command window and you reinstall the patch
