How can I restore a 5.0 tape to a 6.0 NBU environment

I have two sites one with a master server at 5.0 and the other with a master server running on 6.0.

I have a client that wants to upgrading its server and move it to site 2 which has the NBU 6.0. They want to restore to the new server using tapes from the NBU 5.0 environment.  Is this possible?

I need a solution please.

physically take the tape from the 5.0 site to the 6.0 site and import the tape.

The tape used in the NBU 5.0 site is a LT01.

The drives in the NBU6.0 site are hcart3 and we use LT03/4 tapes.

How about the catalog in NBU6 EMM master does not know about the tape from 5.0 site.

     importing tape makes the 6.0 build entries for what is on the tape.

      this how ever is a problem.  I don't think and LTO3 or LTO4 drive and read a LTO1 tape.

so you might need to get an LTO1 tape drive on the 6.0 master

or

restore over the network.  would depend on how much data you need to restore.

you can make your client list 2 servers the 5.0 and the 6.0 if both of them are listed then either one can restore to the server.

anybody got a better suggestion?

LTO should be able to write one level back and read two levels back.

So an LTO3 drive should be able to read LTO1 media.

You will not have any kind of issues if what you are restoring are just plain files, but for SQL, Oracle, Exchange or any application restore you can spect some weird behavior.

I have some new information that may clarify what I need to do.

I need to make a final OS and DB backup of server A on NBUa and then restore that data to a different location(city) on Net new Server B on NBUb. The tapes cannot have other clients data except the one I'm restoring.

Env NBUa:

NBUa is on 6.0 Mp5.

The tapes that are being used are hacart 2.

Drives in use are LT02.

Env NBUb:

NBUa is on 6.0 Mp4.

The tapes that are being used are hacart 3.

Drives in use are LT03/4.

I believe from reading all your reply's it is doable but my question is where can I find the steps to follow?

Can anyone help.  I apologize for sounding inexperienced.
