I configured SAN Media Server

Hi all,

I configured SAN Media server...Storage unit is also created.. 

Now how to check the backup is going through LAN or SAN?

If you have configured the STU to be on demand only, and the policy for the backup of this san media server is configured to use it's own STU (so it is backing itself up) then prsuming you have san attached storage on this media server, then it has to be going over the san, as it can go nowhere else.

Just to make sure the Client name in the policy and the Media server is same (Media server that is associted witht the Storage unit that is selected in the Policy).. 

if the selected STU is SAN attached.. it do use the SAN only..

Also easy enough to see in Activity Monitor.

If Client name and Media server are the same, the backup is using SAN.

Look at the network performance / utilization during backup. It should not be high and should not match the speed you get in nbu activity monitor.
