Job hangs

Whenever I'm backing up a server and something goes wrong with the server (server hangs, server reboot, etc) the backup job hangs (never finish) wich means that the tape remains in the drive until a human intervention cancel that job. This causes me a problem because I need all my drives in order for my backup jobs to finish in time. Is there a way to abort the job automatically (let say after 30 minutes of inactivity)?

Ideally speaking job should fail after a timeout ( CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT) because there will be no communication from that failed server. What version of Netbackup do you have?
May be check Timeouts ( Host Properties-> Master server -> Properties) of the master server and client's timeout parameters.
