Master Server Migration

If I'm migrating a 7.1 Windows Master Server to new hardware and OS, do I need to recreate the OpenStorage storage units on media servers after the full catalog recovery? The catalog will be restored from LTO tape and the robot and such will be recreate so it can be restored, but will the disk storage SUs need to be recreated as well?

Storage Units are part of the EMM database that will be restored with catalog recovery. Only OST plugin resides on the media server. No need to re-install/recreate.

If you follow steps in this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77447 all should be well....

By new O/S I assume you mean the same type (Windows to Windows etc.) otherwise you may need some help

Also remember it must be installed in the same location on the new server as the old one (C drive or D drive etc.)

As Marianne says you will need to install the OST plugin so do that before the catalog restore

Yes Windows 2003 to 2008 but the Master Server isn't doing backups so I think I can skip the OST plugins as the Media Servers are not changing.
