Master Server not reporting to Ops center

nbu123

Hello All,

We had done a fresh installation of Ops Center and when i am trying to add the netbackup master in it to do the data collection its not completing the locate and gives out an unknown error.

"An unknown exception has occurred.
To continue, click on any tab."

This is happening for one master server only. Other master server got added successfully.

I had verified that 1556 is opened bidirectionally between Ops Center and Master server.

Is NBAC enabled on the master server? If so, then you will also require access from OpsCenter tcp/any to master tcp/2821. . Also try enabling tcp/13724 in both directions.

NBAC is not enabled on Master.

Also 13724 is opened in both the directions.

Is the OpsCenter server name, both short and long FQHN both resolvable on the master? If not then add a hosts file entry on the master server for the IP address of the OpsCenter server with both the short and long names. . Is the OpsCenter server name in the correct OpsCenter Server field in the master server "server properties"? . Try clearing the master server's host name cache, on the master do this: bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

both short and long FQHN are resolvable on the master Server.

Correct entry is there in Master server bp.conf

Cleared the cache still not working.

Do any of the server names (master or OpsCenter) anywhere have mixed case? . Did the name of this OpsCenter server change during rebuild? . Try this on the master server: bprdreq -rereadconfig

Both server name doesn't have mixed case.

Ops Center server name didn't change .

After rereadconfig of bp.conf still we are unable to add this specific master server only.

Ok - as a temporary measure, try adding a normal server=opscenter entry on the master server.

do you mean to say opscenter name in bp.conf of master server

Hello Will,

This entry is already there in master bp.conf

Take a look at the latest logfile on the OpsCenter server.

cd  /opt/SYMCOpsCenterServer/logs

ls  -altr

tail  -f  <logfile>

Try adding the problem server and review the results.

Yes, apologies - had a full day at work - I did mean for you to try... as a temporary workaround... the server=opscentername in the master's bp.conf
