I did some backups with a two year retention. I happened to be in the Restore tool and noticed that some of the backup jobs were not showing (green dots) but others were. I looked in Activity Monitor to verify that the jobs had run and they did (status 1 I believe). I then retrieved the tapes and tried to re-import the missing jobs (I found the backup IDs so I could verify I was importing the right thing). During the import it failed toward the end, so I'm not sure I can recover the backup anyways.
But I also came across references to bpdbm -consistency and through that I tracked down where the image files would be located for that backup ID. The image files are missing for the corresponding backup ID and for the backups that appear in the Restore program that image files are present.
So where did the image files go if the backup reported that it completed properly?
Do I need to call Symantec on this?
Again, I may need to rerun these backups as the one set of tapes may have a problem anyways.
