NB_dbsrv daemon is not able to active

Hi,

Iam not able to make NB_dbsrv daemon  active, i tried through Netbackup GUI and also through command mode, but iam not able to make NB_dbsrv daemon is UP, it is seems to be corrupted..
How can i troubleshoot this issue in Symantec Netbackup 6.5 version

Can anyone give solution for the same

Perform a DR, and recover the catalog. Your EMM Database (Adaptive Server Anywhere) is not coming up, which will cause nbemm and nbrb to crash immediately.

Do any entry in server.log match something like this?

*** ERROR *** Assertion failed: 201129 (9.0.2.3508)
File is shorter than expected

OR

Error: Cannot open transaction log file -- Can't use log file "/usr/openv/db/data/NBDB.log" since it is shorter than expected

Hi Rajeev...

hmm...not find any error in server.log.
when i used to ping the NBDB by using the command nbdb_ping

i'm getting the above error message like the above as u told...

root@xyz # ./nbdb_ping
*** Assertion Failure***
an_inter_proc_sema:: Initialize: failed to create shared memory
File 'utils/etc/iprocsem.c' at line #73
Aborting Execution...

Abort (Core dumped)

when i used to start the server,

root@xyz # ./nbdbms_start_server
Abort - Core dumped
Start ASA server Failed! error code: 134

Hi,

Last 5 days, i face some this issue with 10 to 15 client's backup was failed with EC49.(The client failed to start up correctly) , bpbkar is running on all clients.

Netbackup version:

Client :
NetBackup-HP-UX11.11 6.5.1

Media server :
HARDWARE SOLARIS
VERSION NetBackup 6.5.3.1

Master server :
HARDWARE SOLARIS
VERSION NetBackup 6.5.3.1

Anyone please give solution for this issue.

Check if you have encryption enalbed on the policy? If yes, disable it and try the backup.

does the bpbkar log gets generated? It is getting generated then you should have some errors there.

bperror -problems

Try to create a new policy to see if it works
