NDMP restore error 5 - Buffers

Hi all

I have an issue with restoring a NDMP shared folder on Netbackup 7.

I restore small folders with just a few files in it but if you restore a folder that has a lot of different subdirectories & files I keep getting a failed & files are restored with 0kb.

Keep getting something like this. Keeps saying something about buffers. sometimes 2 sometimes 8 "leftover full buffers".

Can someone please assist or has anyone encountered this.

Sorry. Where do I get these reports.

Will the "All log entries" for the NDMP on netbackup be ok or must I generate from somewhere else?

An NDMP Restore would intermittently fail with the error, ERROR: 1 leftover
full buffers. This error only occurred when doing an NDMP restore from a
backup with multiple paths, and the restore includes files from more than
one of the backup paths.

Also, this error only occurred when doing an NDMP Remote restore.

Workaround:
If you encounter this issue, restore only the files that are all from the
same backup path. If files from more than one backup path are needed,
restore them in separate restore jobs.

Perform restore of one subdirectory at one time.

Hi ontherocks

Are you saying that it is then better not to use multipath when doing NDMP backups?

There was an issue in version 7.0.1 when doing a DAR restore of an NDMP multiplexed backup spanned across tapes.  The workaround was to disable DAR.  It will make your restore run longer but it will work.

The issue was fixed permanently in 7.1 and 7.5.

Thanks Smurphy

I'll try to see if I can get an update to one of those versions.
