Hi there,
we have recently purchased a bluearc with 50tbs of storage,
we are looking for a solution to back this file server up to a tape library either lto4 or lto5.
We currently have symantec Backup Exec (newest version) however this does not seem to support backup of the bluearc even with its ndmp option.
It seems people are using net backup?
What sort of pricing are we looking at to backup our bluearc using net backup?
Is net backup reliable for this particular system?
thanks for your time

Sales and prices are always tricky I will recommend you to get your sale rep to give you a quote but if you plan to do this you will need a full NBU domain with new servers and licenses, I think it will be better if you post how to backup a Hitachi Filer in BackupExec in the BackupExec forum

Check Hardware Compatibility List - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495
BlueArc, aquired by Hitach last year, seems to be supported as NDMP device.

Depending on the model you're looking at a Tier 2-3 model device... Possibly.
Licensing is always handled by your reseller. You tell em what you need with what model, they check the licensing guides off partnerNet, and compare to the hardware support list. And give you a price.
Hopefully you have FC connected tape as that is often the fastest way to backup the NAS.

Bluearc is supported in Netbackup. We are using the same from past 2-3 years.
