Its all about SECURITY for your backedup data (images)...

If you hv more than one NBU domain & u frequently exchanging tape media from one domain to other then you can import your offsite media by authentication key generated in original NBU domain

its a Media Server Encryption Option

The most important thing with meso (if you decide to use it) is to back up the encryption keys.

If you need them after a reinstall for example, and have not saved them, you are ttoally stuck.  There is no way to recover the encrypted images, Symantec cannot do it (which, when you think about it, is the point ).
