NetBackup disk options

Trying to configure NetBackup to write to disks.  Without configuring NetApp FAS for (SAN or iSCSI), could I simply write the via share?

I know there is a way to backup to NAS over CIFS or NFS which involves chaging the service account...

Any help would be appreciated.

I assume cifs shares has been assigned and mounted with a drive letter on your Media server.

1) From NBU console goto Storage.

2) Right Click on Storage Units --> New Storage Unit.

3) Provide a name to STU. Choose type as Disk.

4) Provide path. (With Mounted drive letter).

5) Choose High and Low water mark settings.

6) Choose Maximum Concurrent jobs. (Default is 1)

Click Ok.

Go to policy settings and choose this newly created STU as Storage Unit.

Best Regards....

To works, the "NetBackup Client Service" should have rights for accessing the share.

You can ensure this either by configuring a proper account on the NAS and/or change the "logon as" for the NBU Client service.

Beside this following Kiran instructions should do what you are looking for.

If you followed Kiram's suggestion, I fear that once you log off the server, the drive mapping would disappear?

Could you not use a UNC path instead?  Side note, CIFS is probably the worst protocol to use.  At least use iSCSI and jumbo frames, or FC if you have it.

NearStore storage unit don't require Service Account changed. But this require following licenses and configuration for NearStore. * NetBackup Enterprise Server for master andedia servers * Enterprise Disk license * NearStore license on NetApp

Would you kindly let us know what NBU Version you are using and kindly elaborate your query properly. But what i have come to know you simply need STU configuration.
