Netbackup 6.5.6 bug (error code 129)

Hello everybody,

I am facing this issue on my netbackup 6.5.6 environment, that the schedule backups fail with error code 129(Disk storage unit is full) whereas in the DD unit is just at 50%.

High water mark for the storage unit is 80 and low water mark is 70.

I also applied the hotfix (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH147402)

The manual backups ran fine, however the schedule backups failed again.

Please suggest.

Thanks

Sid

The hotfix is not the fix! surprise

The hotfix enables the workaround...

Extract from TN http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH135174 :

A Hotfix has been posted for 6.5.6 and 7.0.1 to enable the workaround...

Did you create the touchfile as per TN instruction?
If Windows, double-check that Explorer does not add .txt to filename.

PS: PLEASE upgrade your NBU installation to 7.1 or 7.5 as NBU 6.x will be EOSL shortly....

Thanks Marianne,

I have created the touch file...Does it needs any further modification in the touch file.

We are planning to upgrade to 7.1 however I just want the backups to run without issues till that time.

Please suggest if there is anything else required to do, to make it work.

Also could you tell me a way to change high and low water mark from command line.

Thanks

Sid

Correct - it should be empty. If Windows master, please confirm that no .txt was added to the file.  (check folder display options - de-select 'hide extensions for known file types.... or something to that effect).

bpsturep -label storage_unit_label -hwm high_water_mark
