Netbackup 7.0

Hi I have installed Netbackup 7.0 on windows 2008 with connectivty to HP tape libarary with LTO 5 tape drives.

Media is LTO4. It is not taking the Media for the backup and failing with error code 96.

When I created the Storage unit, it configured the Drives as HCART 2, where as it is detecting Media as HACRT 3. So manually i changed the Drive type as HCART 3. now vmphyinv is running successfully and able to the labling as well.

But still backup is failing with the same error.

Regards

Ashutosh

Check drive type, media AND Storage unit.

It doesn't matter which density, as long as they all match.

The default for LTO5 is hcart2 and  LTO4 defaults to hcart.

You have changed the drive type to match the media type of hcart3, but the STU is probably still hcart2?

NBU7 does not allow you to change density for STU - you will have to delete it and manually add it as hcart2.

check your pool names are the same as your policy is looking for.

the upgrade said to put tapes to standalone before upgrading did you do that?

try moving all tapes to standalone, (right click change)  then do an inventory again for it to put all of them back into the pools.

Error 96 - You dont have tapes availables on the specific Volume Pool.

Check the Volume Pool if you have tape available or change into the storage unit or policy configuration to get tapes from a valid Volume Pool.

You may want to check your barcode rules. Make sure the LTO type of the tape matches the drive type.

Check your backup policies and make sure the tapes are in the volume pool that is listed in your policies.

Run an inventory on the Tape Library, then re-inventory in Veritas. If the slots do not match up then Veritas backups will fail.

Configure the drive type as HCART and Lable the tape with L4 at the end without space

Thanks Marianne,

Yes the problem is solved. After changing the Drive type to HCART3, I forgot to change the Type of Storage unit to Hcart3. Finally i deleted the storage unit and created a new one as HCART3.

Thanks again...
