Netbackup 7.1.0.2 & Exchange 2010 GRT unable to restore (error 5)

Hi,

I'm trying to setup an evaluation environnement for EV10/NBU7.1.
I have installed 3 win2K8R2 servers:
- 1 for DC/DNS/EXCHANGE2010SP1
- 1 for EV10
- 1 for SQL2008/NetBackup7.1

I have managed to configure things so that to be able to do GRT backups "MS Exchange" policy.
Backup complete with "complete" status.

From the Exchange server, I'm able to browse the backup and select email for recovery.
The issue is that each time I got Error status 5 (email not restored).

Both Client and NBUserver are 7.1.0.2

NBU client service logon is defined as a dedicated domain account NBUSA belonging:
Domain admin group, Organization management, domain user

I have enclosed the BAR view status result.

Server status = 2810 / Server status = 5

Same error when I start BAR  from NBU server itself.

Hi Altimate1,

I was getting this same error this morning. The problem were in the rights of Netbackup client on the Exchange server.

I recommend you review the page 57 of Exchange guide "Configuring the NetBackup service account (Exchange 2010)"

You are correct this was a rights issue!
Problem is that I don't get any error during installation!
So: No “Access is denied” error!
therefore I don't issue any "New-ManagementRole" neither "New-ManagementRoleAssignment" during installation.

To fix this I added an impersonation role for the NetBackup service account.

BTW: this help fixing both Error 5 and "Server status = 2810" (MS-Exchange-Server policy restore) errors.
