I have a Window Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (SP2, build 3790) on a Sun Fire X4100 M2. I am trying to install NetBackup Client 6.5.0 as a new installation. I continue to get an 1720 error stating there was a script could not run. Which makes you believe there is a WMI problem. I have gone through the Steps provided in Symantec support documents and Microsoft support articles about the WMI utility.
Running the WMI utility does not show any major errors. I did get a WBEM error but ran the suggested commands for refreshing WMI and the repository and I no longer find that in the WMI utilty log anymore. The only thing stated in the WMI log now is about WMI Security status. Which I don't believe is an issue.
Reviewing the installation log for NetBackup I find the following information:
11-03-2008,16:20:02 : Action ended 16:20:02: NBStop. Return value 1.

Which I followed the articles for the return value 3 dealing with the MSI installer (re-registering msiexec and all that) to no resolution of my problem.
Note: I am trying to do this without having to open a ticket with Microsoft yet, if possible.
Is this fixable without going through Microsoft?
