'free volume pools'
Is this volume pools with free available media?
If so then click each volume pool in turn and those that show no value in Time Assigned are available media.
This is from the GUI.
Best to run from the command line the available_media script

"how can i check free available space on tape ??"
- not really possible I'm afraid. Depends upon the data & the amount of compression applied to it. We have LTO3 400/800Gb media with recorded data of over 1Tb on it!
"how can i check that the volume pool or any media is associated with which policy??"
- try the "Images on Tape" report. This will detail image info on the media including which Policy etc etc

hi,
actually i want to check that is there any media which is not being used by any policy so i can assign that one to my new policies????????

Those media that can be moved to another volume pool are "...those that show no value in Time Assigned..."
***EDIT***
Just as a slight aside to clear any confusion: media or volumes (e.g. tapes) are assigned to volume pools (i.e. groups of media or volumes). Volume pools are subsequently "assigned" to policies or schedules to thereby limit the group of media from which the policy/schedule can call.

Give up on guessing free space its a black art.. depends on your data...
We have some LTO4's 800/1600GB tape's assigned at the moment....thats 3.1TB!

"Media".
This will show all the media currently "known" to your NetBackup environment.
There should be a column "Time Assigned" (if not right-click, Columns -> layout & "unhide" it).
Only those that have no value in this column can be "changed". Right-click "Change" -> New Pool

I have noticed that your Accreditations include NetBackup 7.0 STS (Symantec Technical Specialist ) for Windows.
Having this accreditation means you should have a good understanding of NetBackup Basics that are covered in the training manuals as well as NetBackup Admin Guides (NEEDED to obtain this accreditation).
The questions you are asking are BASICS.
Maybe best if you start by going through the Admin Guide for Windows, I http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127079
Volumes and Volume Pools are covered in Chapter 8 - Configuring tape media.
Once you understand the basics about volumes in volume pools and the logic behind a scratch pool, you choose a volume pool in the policy. This topic is covered in the same manual in Chapter 15 : Creating backup policies.
Admin Guide II http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127078 covers topics such as 'How NetBackup selects media', 'Volume pool and volume group examples', etc...

I say "I think!" because I'm not too sure about your comment in the attachment:
"I can use these media with newly created media??"
All of the media you have ringed green are "unassigned". They are candidates to "change" to a new volume pool if that is your intention. ***EDIT*** you would get an error anyway if they had an assigned time & you tried to "change" them.
