AWS = Amazon Web Service?
I have no experience of such a configuration, but support for Cloud is covered in NBU 7.x HCL under this topic:
OST Cloud
NetBackup OST Cloud Storage plug-ins enable Symantec data protection applications to access Cloud Storage Solutions.
Either the storage vendor or Symantec provides a software plug-in, which is installed on each NetBackup Media Server that is connected to the cloud solution. If you do not see OST support for your desired Cloud Storage Solution provider / Media Server OS platform, please contact that Storage Server appliance vendor to request OST support for that platform.
Please see the Symantec NetBackup Administrator's Guide for more information on how to use OST.
(See HCL for more info)

From technology perspective, there are no problem if OS of VM is listed in Compatibility List.
Licensing is major concern in this case. It is clear If you purchased capacity-based license - you can use NetBackup with any physical and virtual machines as far as FETB is not exceeded. However, with traditional license it is unclear. Traditional license is enumerated for each physical machine - but how you can number of physical machines in AWS? At worst, you need to purchase traditonal licenses for each VM.
