Policy Volume Pool -- db_full

Schedule

1. Default Application Backup - default created

Retention - 1 month

Volume Pool - db_full

2. Full Backup

Retention - 1month

Volume Pool - db_full

3. Monthly Backup

Retention - 1 year

VolumePool - db_monthly

While running Monthly backup, parent job run with Monthly schedule and child job runs with Default Applicaion Schedule using tapes of db_full.

I have doubts,  what will be the retention of backup (child jobs are running with Default Applicaion Schedule using tapes of db_full) and how to set that tapes should be picked from db_monthly pool.

The retention of Default Application Backup will be used for all schedules.
The easiest way to get past this limitation is to create separate policies for Daily, Weekly, etc for database backups. This way you can also control the pool to be used. Just be sure to specify the policy name in the Rman script.
