Oracle backup failing on Linux server with EC-50 Automatically

Hi Team,

Master and media server : Sun 10, NBU 6.5.5

Client : Red hat 2.4 , NBU 6.5.5

Oracle :10 g

Some times the backups will fail with Error code 50 ( some streams). why and how to resolve such type of issue.

Incresed Read time out on master,media and client Maximum , but no luck.

RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ch00 channel at 01/12/2011 02:58:44
RMAN-10038: database session for channel ch00 terminated unexpectedly
Recovery Manager complete.
 

Note: This happens some time only.

Check dbclient log on client as a start.

(/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/dbclient)

Don't forget to chmod 777 /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/dbclient

Also chat to your Oracle dba - is it possible that he/she terminated the backup on their side? That will cause status 50...

Hi Marianne,

Sorry for delay repsonse, I have given 777 for dbclient and checked with DBA team, they are not terminated the jobs,.

I have increased client read time out both media and client servers are 30000. But still we are facing the same issues, The DB volumes are on NAS and backup NIC card MTU is 1500, Both master and media servers are MTU 9000. Is there any wrong or difference with these MTU's.  Please let me know, what else i need to check,

The backups are not failing daily and regularly, twice or thrice a week. Many times the backups are failing at archive logs ( the arichve volumes are different volume and on NAS filler)

Please let me know any further information do you need.

Today the backups are failing less then 20 min. even at /bk ( db stream). If any one any idea please share ASAP
