when I try to restore files to source media server but use different directory (on windows) it alert me can't restore. I'am surely about correct tape.
Tape media ___restore____> Media server
Example:
Activities logs:
9/12/2008 9:11:37 AM - begin Restore
9/12/2008 9:11:41 AM - 1 images required
9/12/2008 9:11:41 AM - media 000005 required
9/12/2008 9:11:48 AM - restoring image ebnb01_1220961637
9/12/2008 9:11:56 AM - connecting
9/12/2008 9:11:55 AM - requesting resource 000005
9/12/2008 9:11:55 AM - granted resource 000005
9/12/2008 9:11:55 AM - granted resource IBM.ULTRIUM-TD4.003
9/12/2008 9:11:57 AM - started process bptm (5680)
9/12/2008 9:11:57 AM - mounting 000005
9/12/2008 9:11:58 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=5032) Couldn't open /usr/openv/netbackup/.rename.5032 on client ebnb01, status: 2
9/12/2008 9:11:58 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=5032) cannot put rename file on ebnb01
From above:
I backup and restore on windows and I select policy type fore restore as "MS-Windows-NT"
but why that show as "Couldn't open /usr/openv/netbackup/.rename.5032 on client ebnb01"
and "cannot put rename file on ebnb01"
and return job incompleted and retry to restore again but same result.
Please guide me to restore data.

Are you sure that you have the destination client as the Meia Server rather than the original server?
The log indicates that it is still writing to the original server
Server name should be the Master Server, Source client should be ebnb01, Destination should be the Media Server (or whereever you are directing the files)
Send screen shots of wht yoiu are doing if that helps - dont worry about the Unix line, NetBAckup runs everything in unix and the trabslates it to Windows.
Set up program files\veritas\netbackup\logs\tar\ folder on the Media Server (destination client) and run it agin and post the log file
Hope this helps

If you are performing a redirected file restore, please make sure that master server has the path \\Install_path\NetBackup\db\altnames\No.Restrictions
If you don't create the directory altnames and empty file No.Restrictions
Note: No suffix is provided to the file 'No.Restrictions'
Please provide your NetBackup version, OS informations always while posting your question.

You never came back to tell us if you managed to do this restore?
Please let us know if you need further assistance.
Please ensure that bprd log folder exists on the master server for further troubleshooting.
