Poor PDDO performance

Hello,

I am having poor performance when backing up.
I backup to pureDisk through PDDO.
I use SLP to perform optimized duplication (to a second PureDisk Storage Pool) and to duplicate my backups to tapes (LTO4 FC)
I run
NBU 6.5.4 on Windows 2003 SP2 x64 (two media servers)
PureDisk 6.5.1

can I tune buffers on my media servers (SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS and NB_DATA_BUFFERS) ? which value should I use ?
Any Ideas ?

Many thanks !!!!

Do you have numbers ?

  • backup speed approximatively : 15Mbytes/sec
  • 1 PDDO STU with 2 media servers in load balancing, Max stream : 50 ( which means 100 streams can run simultaneously)
  • 2 CPU quad core, 8GB RAM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet configured in a trunk per mediaserver
  • each PureDisk Storage Pool contains 1 Server ( SPA,MBS,MBE,CR)
  • 2 CPU quad core, 12GB RAM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet configured in a round-robin per PureDisk Server
  • Storage are on NetApp Array ( FC disk for /Storage and /Storage/databases and SATA disks for /Storage/data) connected using FC4 links
Let me know if you need further informations

If you backup directly to PureDisk, do you have better perf ?

directly to a "basic disk" storage unit
