Reason why the manual does not say what to put in is because you should know, or get it from your external LDAP authentication service provider - if it's someone in your company, you will need to contact that person and ask what it is.
A quote from http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-22_11-5109703.html is this.
For example, to search the Support container in the TechRepublic.com domain, you would specify a search base of:
ou=Support,dc=techrepublic,dc=com
As you can see in the example above, it really depends on what your external LDAP directory structure is configured like - so PureDisk manual can't tell you what to put in.
You only need to do this if you decided to use external LDAP service instead of the PureDisk's internal LDAP service - is this what you are trying to achieve?
G00gle with keyword "ldap base search path" and you will see more tips you can enjoy.
BTW, there is a separate PureDisk forum and it's address is this.
