Hello All,
Is their an automated way to cancel a queued job within Netbackup 7.1 or a way to ensure that a job will fail after say 10 mins.
Thanks

when you have a open window for your backups - say from 8 pm to 6 am - any job waiting for its turn at a chance to backup will queue.
if the backup window closes and the job has not started to backup yet -but still queued it will get killed - in the above example at 6 am.
why would you want a job that is queued to fail after 10 mins?

Believe this is for testing or some kind of simulation, right?
J.Hinchcliffe has given you the option to configure backup window, so queued job can fail on its own with error 196 once it passed the backup window.
To make a job fail after 10min, if you're using tape drives, simply bring down all the drives; if using a basicdisk, simply change read/write permission on the path or rename it. And beware, this is only for testing so you don't want to do that on a production env. without understanding the impact.
