SOLVED: SAP Backint on SLES 10 64-bit - error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.0

Anonymous
Not applicable

Thought I would publish this for reference, as I did not find an answer and might be an error someone else gets. Just basically should install the 32-bit binary of the missing shared library.

Overview

After installing the NetBackup for SAP agent on X64 Linux (SLES 10 SP2 x86_64), testing backint from the command line gave the following error:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/backint
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/backint: error while loading shared libraries: libelf.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Resolution

  1. In Linux Desktop open Yast and select Software Management
  2. Search for libelf and install the 32-bit binaries (DVD repository was chosen)
  3. Rerun backint should not get error
  4. Remember to perform linking to the binary based on the NetBackup for SAP Admin Guide

Platform/Environment

NetBackup 6.5 and Update 2 of the Client Binaries and SAP Agent for Linux SuSE 2.6 Kernels on a SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP2 OS (64-bit)
