Please share all text in Details tab of the status 1 job.

Please also share all steps that were taken to config Sharepoint backups.
You may want to check your steps against this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH146218

Difficult to troubleshoot without any insight into your environment....

If I was called out to your site, I would print out the TN and ask to verify each point in the doc, starting with point 1.

9 out of 10 times we would find a step that was missed or misunderstood somewhere.

Can you open BAR and view objects as per point 8?

Is this a GRT backup or not?

What is in Backup Selection in the policy?

Do you have log folders on all clients in sharepoint farm? (bpresolver, bpfis, bpbkar)
And bpbrm folder on media server?

I agree.  Also check the Event Viewer on the frontend server for any clues.

0xE000FEA9 often means an underlying permissions issue.

It looks like the front-end server has problem getting the actual object from the backend (SQL) server.

Have you run through the checklist of config?  http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73100

(Ignore the GRT part as you're not using it)

There is a tool developed by Symantec support to check against the requirement too:
