Hello Every body,

Does anybody backup a sybase database using netbackup?

I have tried to use the sybase sample script to backup a sybase database using netbackup but i have been asked to apply the  sp_dboption? are there any other option to backup a sybase database?

Best regards.

You need to have another look.... and verify exact NBU version on clients.

Separate agent installation was only required up to NBU 6.5.
As from NBU 7.0, agents and options are included in NBU Client binaries.

See this extract from NBU 7.0 Installation Guide:

UNIX package consolidation
Starting with NetBackup 7.0, most of the add-on products
and database agents are now installed with the NetBackup
server or the client package. Separate installation for these
products is no longer needed.
The following products are now included in the NetBackup
server package (if the platform supports the product):
■ BMR master server
■ NDMP
■ NetBackup Vault
The following products are now included in the NetBackup
client package (if the platform supports the product):
■ BMR Boot server
■ DB2
■ NetBackup Encryption
■ Informix
■ LiveUpdate agent
■ Lotus Notes
■ Oracle
■ SAP
■ Snapshot Client
■ Sybase
The binaries for the listed products are laid down with the
server or the client package. A valid license is still required
to enable the product.

NBU 7.0 Guides for Sybase can be found here:

Sybase Admin Guide UNIX,Linux  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127049
Sybase Admin Guide for Windows  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127048

You will see in the 7.0 manual for Unix/Linux that there is no mention of libsybackup.so.

As I said I read the sybase admin guide befor and i have worked with the sys dba to  modify the sample script for sybase.

when I run the backup i got this error:   I have found the libsybackup.so into the server filesystem but it does not appear.

Does anybody know where can i find the libsybackup.so library?

Hope you came right?
