Hi,
We have NetBackup 7.5 version installed on Solaris system. We want to take a Synthetic Backup for Unix system, When I go into a policy to select the Synthetic Backup block it is grayed out. We have selected 'collect true image restoration information' in atttributes tab of policy. Any ideas?

Have you confirmed that your STU is supported for Synthetic backups?
What is policy type?
Have you added Full and Incr schedules before trying to ad Synth Full schedule?

For the option to be enabled you must meet these criterial:
The policy type must be either Standard or MS-Windows.
The Collect True Image Restore Information With Move Detection option must be selected on the Policy Attributes tab.
One of the following must be available:
Disk storage unit(s) with adequate space available.
Tape library(s) with multiple drives to read and write.
A combination of disk storage unit(s) and tape library(s).

Thanks for reply...
Yes Marianne, I have taken Full and Incr. backup before to add Synthetic backup schedule. Also backup policy type is Standard, as well I mention in my earlier post "collect true image restoration information' block selected in atttributes tab of policy".
Still I don't have a chance to enable Synthetic Backups block.

What type of Storage Unit(s) are you using in this policy?
Have you confirmed that STU is supported for Synthetic backup?

After lot try and discussion we found, it is not possible to enable Synthetic Backup option in exsisting schedule. So we created new schedule with same setting, after that we able to selected Synthetic Backup block. We follow same steps for all policies.

This is exactly what I was asking on 17 May:
Have you added Full and Incr schedules before trying to ad Synth Full schedule?
All of these schedules must exist in the same policy.
