System State neither Shadow Copy Components' backup doesn't work.

Hello,

I have a policy with the Windows Server 2003's directive Shadow Copy Components.

The backup of a client on this police always shows 0 bytes to all files.

Any ideas, please?

If it is 5.1, there is a slight possibility that you are running into the issue outlined in the technote below:

Hello,

I'm using NetBackup Enterprise Server 6.5.4 .

I followed the technote 327105 (http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/327105.htm) but the problem remains.

Any tips, please?

Hi

Just a couple of things to try first.

1. Create a policy and use the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES directive.  This will do a full system backup with all the system states/shadow copy components.
2. Go to the Backup Archive Restore utility and browse the backup for the above client.
Can you see the files and stuff under Shadow Copy Components?
This will determine whether it is actuall working or not.

1. On the client machine, run "vssadmin list writers" at the command prompt.
Do you get a list of writers or is this fairly empty?

Question...
Is the client you are trying to backup a virtual machine?
Is the client you are trying to backup built from a clone of another machine?

Cheers

Is the client you are trying to backup x86 or x64?

Hello,

Yes, it's a VMware Guest Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32 bit). The NetBackup Client is installed on it. No, it's not a clone.

I tryed to backup the System State on a physical machine, but there is the same problem.

Cheers,

I had a problem with System State backups on W32K x64 virtual servers that had NewSID run on them.  The solution there was to rebuild and use SysPrep.

Do you have any Windows 2003 servers in your environment that are working?
