Tape Library Configuration in NetBackup.

Hi All,

I have netbackup 6.5.3 on windows server 2003.
We have Dell ML6010 library...... How do I configure slots for my backup.
Can I do partitioning as we do in Backup Exec.....
How NBU handles the slots and media....

you want to logically parttion the library and use it in single master server/ b/w master server & media server.

Let me explain you, I wan to have my file server backup on only first 4 slots...
Similar to that remaining,
I have only one media and master server in my setup.

you got two ways to do it
1. create 2 storage units and in one storage unit, set the maximum number of drives as 4 and allocate this storage unit for file server backup policy;
2. logically parttion the library into 2, then you will have 2 libraries on your master server; then allocate this robo for your file server backup.

you need to allocate media's for theeach logicall library if you parttion.

it has got nothing to do with netbackup, you need to assign ip address to your tape library and login via IE , you will have an option to create logical partions, ensure that no backups or restores are active on it;  once you create them, you will be seeing 2 robots under device manger in your master server; then remove the present configuration and reconfigure using storage device configuration wizard.
