Upgrading NetBackup 7.1 to NetBackup 7.5 or higher

Current Info:
Netbackup version : 7.1.0.4
OS : Windows 2003 x86
1 Master server, 2 media servers, 4 SAN media servers.

Suggestion:
Netbackup version : 7.5 or higher
OS: Windows 2012 R2
Restore all configuration/setting from existing master server.
Zoning for library and servers.

Based on the above info, can anyone help to provide the procedure\steps for this upgrading process?

Since only NetBackup 7.6 is supported Windows 2012 as a master server, do i need to upgrade to netbackup 7.5 first?

Minimum netbackup level for upgrading to 7.6 in 7.5.6.

Win 2012 only supports with 7.6, so its can not be a regular upgrade from the earlier version, it should be a new installation of the Master server or the Migration of the Master server as a part of OS refresh

If I proceed for fresh installation of Netbackup 7.6 on the new server with platform Windows 2012, can I import the catalog from NetBackup 7.1 and restore all the configuration with exact settings as the old server with Windows 2003?

That is unsupported. You must upgrade to 7.6 first

you need to upgrade the Netbackup to 7.6 on the 2003 server first.. then  then plan for the migrtion from 2003 to 2012 OS.

yes it can... 

Window2012 only supports with Netbackup 7.6... means you can not install lower version than 7.6 on windows 2012

but Netbackup 7.6 can also supports with WIndows 2003/2008 along with windows 2012

if that is the Fresh install yes... ... you can.. and also even if you are mastaer server in 7.1.. you can still directly go and install the 7.6
