What happens to infinite retention images if the policy is deleted?

If I create a policy to permanently archive a retiring system and set the images to infinite retention, will they continue to be retained even if I later delete the policy?

Nothing - a policy is strictly for executing backups.

The information about backups are stored in Netbackup image database and don't rely on information from policies.

Yes, deleteing a policy has no affect on images already created.

Nothing happens.

Backed-up data and image info does not depend on the presence of a backup policy.

The policy name that was used for the backup is recorded in the image header but that's about it.

If client name no longer exists in a policy, the client will no longer show up in Host Properties, but that is no problem.
Image info for valid, unexpired images are stored in images db on the master under /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images.
You will see a folder for each client.
