Hi all

window client server backup failing on daily basis. plz help

bpclntmcd -hn , blclntcmd -ip worls fine from both client and all 3 media server.

bptestbpcd -client -verbose shows error from media server.

Something wrong with Client installation or configuration. For some or other reason it seems to attempt connect-back on port 65533.

bpcd main: output socket port number = 65533

Connection attempts since 7.0.1 is on 1556 with failback to 13724 if 1556 fails.

Any idea why? This is not normal. Have you perhaps changed Connect Back options in Master Server Host Properties -> Client Attributes?

As Marianne says - the ports look odd.

Assuming media server and client are both Window based take a look in their registries and tell us the settings for the follwoing keys:

HKLM\Software\Veritas\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\Config:

Port_BPCD

CLIENT_PORT_WINDOW

CLIENT_RESERVED_PORT_WINDOW

amd also from HKLM\Software\Veritas\VxPBX:

PortNumber

In my environment some times found that Client Internal Firewall (Control Panel --> windows Filrewall Settings ) is enable blocking netbackup port communication. Disable Windows Filrewall settings and try.

Or try telnet  to media server from any other machine in same subnet of Client. (might be port block at External Firewall if any ).
