Hello ,

we are trying to do a Bare Metal Restore (BMR) of HP-UX 11.11 client from netbackup master server (Window 2008).

1. we installed boot server on HP-UX server and created SRT on this machine successfully.

2. the boot server and SRT are shown in netbackup server.

But i am getting  the below error while trying to restore  HP-UX client throgh BMR. so please advice me to how to fix this issue

[Error] V-126-3 'bmrprep' could not complete the requested operation.

Please see logs for additional information.

The shared resoruce tree "srtname" could not be shared by the boot Server hosting it. Please verify that the required configuration
in the boot server is correct. The nfs daemons and configuration files needs to be properly working for this operation
to work.

[Info] V-126-43 Cleaning up. Please wait.

Thanks for your information.

We missed to add the client entry in the /etc/hosts file of Boot server. After adding the entry now that error is not coming and it asked the boot the client and the activity is shown in “tasks window”. so I have rebooted the HP-UX client machine but there is no restoration process happening.(please refer the attached screen shot)

What else we need to do in order to initiate/start the BMR restore? (now it’s in queued state)

Thanks in advance for your support

Giri

1.eNABLE THE NETBACKUP SERVICES

Netbackup bare Metal restore Boot Server
Netbackup BMR  MTFTP service
Netbackup BMR PXE Service

2.BMR supports two recovery modes, one media based recovery and other NW boot recovery.

IF NW boot recovery is intended then you need BMR Boot server and other two services, TFTP and PXE, configured and running.

Thanks for your information.

we are trying NW boot recovery model.

But we have configured  one of our HP-unix 11.11 machine as a boot server for HP-unix clients (installed the SRT on this HP-UX machine).

do we need to check the services mentioned by you in the HP-unix boot server also ?

Giri

As your prepare to restore worked, required nw services configuration on boot server is correct.

Did you notice if "boot lan" command execution is approaching correct bmr boot server ip-address for NW boot?

Thanks.

When you say "started install.." means is BMR recovery started as expected or HPUX OS installation started?

If it is HPUX OS installation over net is happening (and not bmr recovery of client) then you must have enabled HP Ignite install server on the boot server. You need to turn it off.

Thanks.

Hi  Mandar,

We are using network SRT and  we booted the client machine from boot server through network. But during the installation of HP-UX client, we are getting the below error. Please help me to fix the issue.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Read network settings.

Retrieving file /opt/ignite/boot/124.252.100.9.info from 124.252.100.11.

Mounting SRT

ERROR: Failed to retrieve "/tmp/7CFC6409.conf".

Bad $runMode value ""

Bare Metal Restore has failed.

Now, you will be dropped to a shell prompt.

You may reboot the system when you have completed diagnosis.
