multiple master servers in the same domain with netbackup 6.5.5

Hi

I want to know if it is possible to install two machines with the role netbackup master server in the same domain windows 2008
In fact now we have 1 backup robot (iscalar500) which is directly attached to the server that is running Netbackup 6.5.5 with the role of master server.
We acquired a second backup robot (storagetekSL500) that we want to install to ease the task of the first robot so that the second robot will save some client currently saved by the iscalar. We would also  like this robot provides full backup of the site in case of  failure of the current robot.
It’s why we don’t want to install the robot on a second machine as media server because we would like this machine take in hand entire backups in case of failure of the master server.
If it is technically possible with netbackup 6.5.5 ,arec lient machines on the network can  be saved by the two master servers?
Thank you in advance for your help

1. You can install as many master servers in Windows Domain as you want to. NetBackup is not domain-aware

2. Each NetBackup master maintains its own Catalog Database that has no clue about backups done by another master

3. You can't suddenly start taking backups from failed master using the another master, you need to configure all policies again from scratch and reconfigure all clients

4. NetBackup 6.x will be out of support in two weeks.

5. NetBackup client can be client of only one master

6. The design above will not fly

I guess you need to start with reading document how NetBackup domain is structured first and plan the deployment. This white paper could be a good starting point: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/sites/default/files/b-whitepaper_nbu_architecture_overview_1...

A client can only have one master server, but many (media) servers.
This means that you can run filesystem backups (not at the same time) from different master/media servers.

Database backup request are always sent to the Master (there can only be ONE...)

Windows environment where Incrementals are based on Archive bit will be totally messed up when backed up  by different servers.
