General recommendation from Symantec about error 181

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH58659

Also please check Netbackup version on master/media and client are supported. I notice this error

"Unrecognized -J string spsrestoreoptions=0"

It look like the master server passes this option to the client, but tar does not support this option. Possible because Netbackup client is too old or another version of tar is in use than the one Symantec provide in /usr/openv/netbackup/bins

Please start at the beginning and give us all relevant info:

NBU version on Master and Media server and NBU version on the client.

OS on master and media server and OS on the client.

Are you restoring files/folders back to the same client or a different client?

Are you perhaps doing a restore to a different client running a different OS?

Maybe encrypted tape?

For further troubleshooting, you need logs:

On master: bprd (restart NBU after creating log folder)

On media server: bptm and bpbrm

On destination client: tar

Ensure all of these log folders exist under netbackup\logs before attempting the restore again.
Copy logs to .txt files that reflect process name (e.g. bprd.txt) and upload as File attachments.
