Hi all,

I am restoring data to a mounted shared drive (cifs server) , all files and folders are created but the size is showing 0kb.

Data backed from a media server and restore to a shared drive mapped on the same server.

on the BAR status window i amgetting this error.

(err=WIN32 1332: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done. )

master server 7.5.0.5

media server 7.5.0.5

When i restore the same data with out ACL to the same shared drive its restoring fine.

can anyone pls help me in this regard.

thanks

AVC

does the netbackup client services are running on with the local admin accout .. or did you use any specific accout..?

use the specific accout in netbackup client services which have the Full privilages on the shared Drive and check the restore

I have restore with local admin account and it failed with "Restore error(2850)"

Then i tried with a user with domain admin privilage which has permission on the shared drive. In this case folders and files are created with 0kb size.

its saying this error.

" the requested operation was partially successful(1)

The job was successfully completed, but some files may have been
busy or unaccessible. See the problems report or the client's logs for more details."

When i restore without access permission it restores fine and all is well.

What format is the cifs share? Is it NTFS formatted

Exactly what is this cifs share?

Just wondering if its format means that it cannot create the ACLs needed

Its an EMC file server. Since we cannot restore directly to a file server. we created a share in it and mounted the share to the media server. Now we are restoring the data to the mounted shared drive.

the path to restore is the \\file_server_ip\share_folder

So what file system is that share formatted with (NTFS, EXT3 etc.)?

Please copy all of the text from that screen so we can see it from the top

Why did you use the IP address as the path rather than a name - it the target server part of the domain?

I am looking for detail restore log...

Plese post the log form the below location

/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/<userid>/logs  -- for unix Master

Installpath/veritas/netbackup/user_ops/<userid>/logs -- for windows master

user id should be the one that is used to trigger the restore job.

actually under the user id which is used for restore is not having any logs under it but under another folder

super000 i can see the logs

Installpath/veritas/netbackup/user_ops/super000/log.

I dont have a user as super000. But i a user called superuser.

I have attached activity monitor and user_ops logs

The logs show what was stated initially - it appears that the file system you are restoring to in not capable of implementing the original ACLs that the file had

Where was the original backup done? This usually indicates either more than one domain involved or that you do not have enough rights to that share location to set the ACLs

(err=WIN32 1332: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done. )

this is the same that i find in below T/N

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH12638

1332, 0x00000534, No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.

you need to get your Windows team to get this fixed.

backups are restores are on the same domain.

backed from a windows file server on the same domain and restore to the emc file server on the same doamin.

I have used local admin to backup the files from the master server. Could that be the issue. If have tried restoring with a domain user who has permissionon that shared file system.( netbackup client service)

still no hope.

Backup on the windows file server is also very slow. 3.5TB takes around 2 days to complete.  I am in process of migrating my windows file server to EMC file server so as to use NDMP to backup the files.

how to get past this issue.

Log into the Master Server (I assume that is where the restore is running from) as the account you are using for the client service account and make sure you can copy files to the destination path - also make sure that account can access the original files where they were backed up from.

This really does look like a rights issue - either not having rights to the original files or not having enoght rights set on the target folder that you are restoring to
