Can't get any server to report

Hi guys, I've been trying to get Symantec OpsCenter working for a couple of days now without luck.

I have installed the application, created the agent and data collector but it doesn't work. Everything reads as "Not Started" and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

I've installed OpsCenter onto a clean Windows 2008 R2 machine and installed the update (7.0.1). I have 8 Backup Exec servers I'd like to be able to report on.

I've read through the user guide and installed Visual C++ SP1 as directed but hasn't made a diffrerence. No data is being collected.

Any guidance /  help would be much appreciated.

Can you give us a little more info:

Is OpsCenter installed on a separate server/VM all by itself (not installed on a Backup Exec server)?

Did you install an OpsCenter Agent on the Backup Exec servers?

Are the OpsCenter services in Windows all started?

I'm getting error message with following text...

Retries exceeded, couldn't reconnect to 10.100.248.128:1556:opscenter_agent

When looking on the client side

the servcie "Symantec Opscenter Agent service" is crashed.

There is a log, hs_err_pid3972.log

starting with...

#
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
#  EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x4f2187d1, pid=3972, tid=4764

so I raised a case with support : Case_ID_413-177-175

No feedback yet, waiting...

Is Hotfix 912945 been installed on this system..you can try to remove Microsoft Internet Explorer Hotfix 912945 and check if it helps.

Do you have the Backup Exec Client installed on your OpsCenter server?  OpsCenter uses some of the NetBackup commands from the client to communicate with the NetBackup Master server; I'm assuming the same is true for Backup Exec.
