Question about striping and unit size.

I'm configuring some raw devices for a database that will be striped across a set of disks (these have protection at the array level).  The standard stripe unit size for a VxVM stripe is 64k, but the DBAs are telling me they use a 2k page size.  Does this mean that if they make a request for 2k from disk that the OS will have to read an entire 64k chunk?

No.  It just specifies the size of the chunks that are grouped into a single column.

How much is read at once depends more on the OS and the disk drivers.
