Hello Friends,
We have Veritas Volume Manger (4.1) configured in Solaris 10... We have a disk group: where there are two local disks along with several SAN Disks... I am looking for a way to migrate the data/volumes in the local disk to SAN Disks and safely remove the local disks from veritas control.. we can add new disks, if required... Please assist.

PS:
Are you aware of the fact that version 4.1 ran out of Support in 2011?
Have you checked if the SAN disk/array is compatibile with VxVM 4.1?

Thanks for the links, I will review them.
Let me clarify my problem statement..
The problematic disk group contains both local disks (2x 148 GB sun/hitachi disks ) and SAN disks (14 disks)... I want to remove the local disks from this disks groups.
So, the SAN Disk/array is already part of the disk group and functional in this particular server...
The whole idea is to migrate this system to a different machine (Solaris P2v), which would require the disk group export/deport at source and import at the configured destination... Only the two local disks are posing problems to me...
My big question is, can the following command be run without any impact to i/o operations...? Or does this require a downtime.
vxevac -g <disk group> <source disk> <target disk>

Why do you want to use vxevac and not the mirror method?
The mirror attach, sync, break off and removal of disks from dg requires no downtime.

Thanks for the suggestion... I managed to move the data out of disk using the mirror method...
