from vxdisk list command i see that public region is on /dev/vx/dmp/sda4.

from blkid

/dev/vx/dmp/sda2: UUID="2c939a0f-8fba-4784-9b6d-fd930578f1aa" TYPE="ext3"
/dev/vx/dmp/sda4: UUID="afa353b3-ee87-4559-befb-9ece9bcfd0c1" TYPE="swap"

public region is the space where is the data.right?

before encapsulation the data was in /dev/sda2 with ext3 type.

after encapsulation the data is in /dev/vx/dmp/sda4.why still i have /dev/vx/dmp/sda2?

is this there in case i execute unencapsulation?

/dev/vx/dmp/sda4 is a copy of /dev/vx/dmp/sda2?

tnx

Re: encapsulation

hi,

test6:~/Desktop # mount /dev/sda2 /n
test6:~/Desktop # ls /n
6 boot home lost+found n .osuuid sbin sys var
66 dev lib media nn proc selinux tmp vol5s
bin etc lib64 mnt opt root srv usr

test6:~/Desktop # mount -t vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/rootvol /n
UX:vxfs mount.vxfs: ERROR: V-3-20012: not a valid vxfs file system
UX:vxfs mount.vxfs: ERROR: V-3-24996: Unable to get disk layout version

test6:~/Desktop # mount -t ext3 /dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/rootvol /n
test6:~/Desktop # ls /n
6    boot  home   lost+found  n    .osuuid  sbin     sys  var
66   dev   lib    media       nn   proc     selinux  tmp  vol5s
bin  etc   lib64  mnt         opt  root     srv      usr

if i can mount /dev/sda2 and /dev/vx/dsk/dsk/rootdg/rootvol to see the data this means that /dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/rootvol is mapped to /dev/sda2,it means points to /dev/sda2?

tnx
