BESR 8 desktop fails with error 1603.

I have been able to install the software on most of the machines in my office. I ran the install with verbose logging and this is the error I am receiving. As you can see it looks like it is going to install, yet it fails with the 1603 error. Any help would be appreciated. The machines are Windows Vista Business SP1, and trying to install as the administrator has resulted in the same error.

Anybody?

Nobody wants to take a stab at this? I went through the registry yesterday and deleted everything that was associated with Backup Exec. I also deleted the programdata files and program files for for Backup Exec. I then ran the setup in verbose mode and I still receive the same error. Nothing has changed.

Sorry for such a long delay, there is limited number Symantec Employees monitoring this group. It looks like there is an issue with the eightdotthree file name convention occuring on this system. Our install script is not properly parsing an issue of short file names and so is failing. If you copied the Install folder off the product CD to the local VISTA drive and then ran the SETUP.EXE install from there and/or ran the MSIEXEC.EXE install using the following syntax located here: http://support.veritas.com/docs/297125 are you capable of installing correctly?
