Hi Guys,
need a quick answer here...iss SSR the ideal solution for imaging, and possibly restoring physical servers quickly?
I have a requirement to look into a solution that will create images of physical servers. not much is expected to change, and another application takes care of normal backups.
What would I be able to run this on? A physical server, or will a VM work? Is local storage a good option, or would I need to look into direct attached storage?
Thanks!
Craig

Yes, this is exactly what SSR is designed for - quick recovery.
Can be done on physical or virtual machine. Local storage would be best but a network location would also work. Obviously local storage will give best performance if this is an issue.

Thanks Chris. It's not something I have been involved in, but is it a fairly straight-forward procedure?
I assume downtime is required in order to image the servers initially?
Thanks!

Yes, the process is quite straightforward but would recommend (as always) checking with the user guide:

Downtime is not required as you can do an online (whilst OS is running) backup.
